As a pro photographer and photojournalist, it's frustrating when there are photos that are average and could be real eye-cathching if only they had people in them; OR people ARE in the photos but they are so much part of the background they are hardly noticeable. I have found after 35 years in the business that most people don't mind having their picture taken, especially by complete strangers. Those who DO feel uneasy usually lighten up aftr 5 or 10 minutes of light conversation.

Michiel,

I think you have to contact SP about this. There are many "general" MR templates you can use in the future, a better tactics because you never know where you will put your images. Now, with existing MRs, it will depend on each site to accept them with the name of another agency or not.
I really shouldn't be surprised - You know what, t

You know what, time to chime in...

Amusingly enough, the reason I clicked on this particular forum topic, nay, the reason I entered the forum at all, was to see if this topic had been previously discussed. Lo, and behold, here I find myself joining the rant. I've been a contributing photographer on this site since back when I sucked (in 2007, though some of my raters would have me believe things haven't changed much), and since that time, I've been able to empathize, though unknowingly, with those who agree with us on this particular issue. It's long been my desire to see this site freed of such content, not because I'm offended, but because it's simply not artistic, and I believe it degrades the reputation of all of us who contribute to this site, as we are only as good as those with whom we unwittingly associate; we are, quite frankly, all fragments in the mosaic that makes up a stock photography site. When someone puts a poorly composed shot of a young woman spreading her legs with a cheap makeup job and awful lighting (usually on camera flash), it does a significant amount of damage to the respect due those who are taking hours to compose a beautifully artistic nude, but are then being lumped in with the same trash.

I'm sad to say, I've even helped these people on occasion, again unwittingly. I've had private messages sent to me from articulate individuals seeking advice, who I'll mark as favorite photographers in kinship, and later, come to find that they have cowtowed to the mass consumerism that drives the demand for this inanity. I edit my favorites list accordingly. I've considered a number of times formally addressing the Shutterpoint staff with my concerns, but sadly, the words of Stephen and John (for whom I have the utmost respect) take the wind from my sails and firmly redirect it into the sails (and sales) of those continuing to perpetuate this crime against our collective posterity.

Times are hard these days, and I can't say I've never considered how well these images sell, but I'm afraid I simply can't curtail my principles and integrity for nigh but a dollar.

I am a believer in the vote, I suppose, at least at the community level, and I would love to see Shutterpoint take the initiative to allow it's contributors (who are, in effect, it's very backbone) an opportunity to vote on the issue. Sadly, I'm not sure that this will ever be a realized option.

For this rant, I expect no action (though that is not to say I wouldn't like to see my desires fulfilled), but I merely offer an opinion for those who wish to entertain it. At that, I bow before the next poster, and encourage further discussion.

For your further consideration:

"Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself."
-Leo Tolstoy

And:

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
-Mohandas Gandhi

I really shouldn't be surprised - Welcome to SP La

Welcome to SP Lara.

Unfortunately this has been a very sore subject for many of us here for a long time and here have been many forum discussions about it to no avail. SP fully backs allowing these types of images, so there's not much you can do about it other than set your viewing content filter so you don't have to view it. I agree that it should not be allowed here but again, SP disagrees. If you look at the "What's Selling" section, it seems that at least 25% of the work sold here is of this nature. The best advice is to just move on and forget about it.

Best of luck to you.
Steve

I really shouldn't be surprised - I must say this:

I must say this: I thought I was subscribing to something exciting where I could see and learn from the work of other people who like photography, nature and beautiful things. To my surprise (yes I'm obviously too naive), when making a search on the highest rated pictures, I can tell that vulgar nudity is still on top of the list of what people like looking at. what can I say, some of them are really ugly, other are just boring.
