Resting Deer I have worked on this photo many times. When I crop, it is too small to submit. When I experimented with filtering, that didn't bring good results either. I don't particularly like the background, but love the picture of the deer itself. I am glad that it gets attention, even criticism. Would you please offer more suggestions on how to make this photo better. Thank you.

Anita: Remember that the person you need to please most is yourself. The fastest way to make this image more sellable would be to clone out the power lines and make it a more natural background. You can also make it a tad more colorful. If you do not have access to adobe photoshop or some other post production software you should consider taking a class.

If I spent an hour on this fixing the background, brightening it and slightly cropping it it would be good but probably not sellable. You are competing with hundreds, thousands of sharp beautifully composed deer shots out there. A full frame standing deer with a woodsy background is just going to be more sellable.

Don't feel outdone just keep at it. Did you shoot any more that than this one shot? If the deer was just sitting there you should have taken dozens of shots, vertical and horizontal. Aiming to crop out that power line or make it soft in the focus.

Thanks Chris,
I am trying to be like a sponge and take what everyone tells me to heart and will keep at it! Thanks again for the welcome advise and critique.
