Hi Brendan,

It is often a good idea to introduce a foreground element into a composition like this. If you look at this example, see how the rocks in the foreground make a huge difference.

Totally agree with Mike. Also try to determine which has the most interest - the sky or the foreground - and then use the rule of thirds to place your horizon either up towards the top (more foreground) or near the bottom (more sky).
