How can I improve leaf?

Hi Joas
I like the color, and the concept...to improve....
for me, I would NOT have used as shallow a depth of field, as very little is in focus that catches the eye...and the part that is , although placed on a third, is falling outside the upper corner it is set in, thus allowing the eye to wonder off...the image looses IMPACT.
try a deeper DOF ( not to deep, as I undeerstand the desire to have selective focus),..consider placing the focuse area more to the bottom, consider how theater used stage right and stage left to capture an audience when placing an actor.
then to add INTEREST bring a water bottle and add a few water drops....this can be done after the non water is taken.
and/or relocate a beetle into the area of focus.,...
but if that doesnt appeal to you, work toward getting that area of focus SO SHARP you can almost see the fluid running in the veins.
