most birders I know are not convinced...but there have been a number of "sightings" over the last 15 years...stranger things have happened!

I was about to grab my 600mm lens and head for Texas then I remembered I would have to go past Roswell New Mexico and I understand there are some aliens that are still pissed about what happened to their spaceship in 1947 , a year before the last VERIFIED sighting of an ivory-billed woodpecker so I decided to stay home.

In my opinion, the videos showed a Pileated Woodpecker and a Red-headed Woodpecker. Not an Ivory-billed.

Ha! I think there is still hope, but not in this guy's backyard. A more remote area maybe.

It seems like it would be very easy for the uninitiated to confuse an Ivory Billed Woodpecker with a Pileated. But I have very little knowledge about birds.

Below is a link that compares the two.

Yes, it would be easy for a non-birder to confuse an Ivory Billed with a Pileated. It is just so unlikely that an Ivory Bill will be seen. But, this person also mistook a Red-headed Woodpecker for an Ivory Billed and it is a much smaller bird. Guess he was just excited. Thanks for the link.

The goal would be to ultimately photograph one of these, but Texas is pretty big if someone wants to try to find them.
