Photographer's Description

Look closely. There are chicks peeking out. On Kauai, Hawaii, there are a ton of chickens and roosters running around wild. I saw this mother hen with her babies as they were just pecking at the ground, mom was keeping a watchful eye. A mean Rooster started heading their way, and momma squawked a warning at her babies. They came running and hid under her wings and she sat down like nothing was up. The rooster passed by, and then the babies started to stick their heads out to see if it was safe. It was truely one of the most exciting photography moments I have had. A once in a million shot. Yes, they honestly were in there - there were, I believe, 6 of them in there. Who knew?
