Photographer's Description
In the rural Muskoka district of Ontario where I live, we frequently see White tailed deer roaming freely between adjoining country properties . They are always a special delight to observe, to photograph and to watch the deer families grow and develop. This deer had been a fawn I had observed many times prior to this arrival with an acute manifestation of male maturation. This was the first male deer I have seen in our neighbourhood. This new buck never returned after this photo was taken. The antlers of the mature male white-tail consist of a forward curving main beam from which single points project upward and often slightly inward. (Canadian Wildlife Service).
