Photographer's Description
Black-and-white photo of Corinthian columns on the second level of a building in downtown San Francisco.

Corinthian-style columns are one of three ancient Greek architectural orders, the other two columnar styles being Ionic and Doric. Corinthian columns are the lightest and most ornate, distinguished by large capitals decorated with carved acanthus leaves. A public library, for example, might be built with Corinthian columns to impress, whereas a government building would have the no-nonsense Doric style.

NOTE: I have added an identical version finished with a bronze sepia tint. In keeping with that era, to that one I've added a little noise and softness. You'll find it in my Vintage Photos Album, "Corinthian Columns - Vintage Photo B&W Sepia - SF Bldg," Image ID 756796.
