1950 Ford F1 100 hp, 239.4 cu. in. V8 engine, three-speed column-shift manual transmission, front beam axle with coil springs, live rear axle with leaf springs, four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 114" Considered the longest continuous single series ever produced by the Ford Motor Company, 2008 represents the 60th year for the F-series pickup and the model that started it all off was the newly designed F1 introduced in early 1948. Designers and engineers worked together to produce not only a sturdy and reliable light-duty truck, but also one that looked good, was easy to service and would continue to promote the Ford brand name. In the 1990s, when the designers from Revell Models were looking for a perfect example of a 1950 F1 pickup to use as the template for their 1/25th scale plastic model kit, the truck offered here was located and used for all measurements, specifications and original box artwork. Having been given a full restoration with the goal of authenticity to the original product, this F1 presents an outstanding example of what a pickup should be. Finished in Vermillion Red, the cab's interior is fresh and conservatively functional with the very desirable column style shift which frees up the transmission hump for the added comfort of a third passenger. Providing the output of the flathead engine with a little boost is a pair of Mercury higher compression heads, while the rest of the drivetrain has been left pure stock. Still retaining its original six-volt electrical system, there is something comforting to the ear when this vintage hauler first starts up, which the consignor reports is almost immediately upon the push of the dashboard mounted button. Setting off the visual appeal of this truck are the beautifully finished wooden side-rails complementing the golden rich finish of the oak planking used in the bed. Other amenities include matching chrome outside rear view mirrors and original hubcaps on the heavy-duty steel wheels
