Photographer's Description

Taken from the Southwest. This is actually the third State Capitol building, the first two, built in 1867 and 1882, had structural problems and ended up unsafe for use. Construction began on this Nebraska State Capitol Building in Lincoln on April 15, 1922. The tower is 400 feet (122m) tall and made of Indiana limestone. The construction was done in four phases, and took 10 years. The final cost was under the $10 million dollars budgeted for the project.
