Lava Cliffs, just below the highest point on Trail Ridge Road. Standing there it did seem like the clouds had to "pull up" to clear the ridge at nearly 12,200 ft. I was struck my nice contrast between earth and sky here. I did have to hold my hat between the sun and my lens to reduce the flare.

A truly remarkable photo! - don't have any hills quite this high...will have to do some angle work for a shot like this
|

tricky exposure this (bright sky, reflective snow), but you nailed it. My only slight gripe would be that I can't tell the sense of scale here. A person in the scene, in the distance would've given the eye a good point of reference.

Great shot of spectacular looking cliff. Excellent.

Mike, you sure this isn't a macro of a cut open coconut held up in the air? :^) What a fantastic vista, talk about having your head in the clouds. Great shot.

Nice the way those cliffs curve around with those big old clouds hovering behind, it's hard keeping snow from looking to harshly lit, you did it well Mike.

Awesome shot Mike! Love those clouds and the cliffs look menacing. I bet a trek above those cliffs would be a white knuckler.

It does indeed touch the sky! Or maybe it's that the sky touches the earth! An absolutely gorgeous photo, with vivid color, fine contrast between light and shadow. and great composition.
|
|
Crisp and clear skies make for a great ridge shot. Interesting textures between the rough rocks and snow.

The air must be clear up here. You get a 10 just for being there! Nice photo Mike but I got to ask who is up here making the snow dirty and not cleaning up? (winks... lol ....)

Too good image to be on the featured page...please not make so good images.........:)))
|

Another beautiful shot.Would be a dangerous place to slip and fall! Love the contrast...very nice.
