My favorite beach friend showed up just before sunset during a bit of a sunbreak. My software wanted to correct for the golden light but I think the light flatters this lady Calliope Hummingbird. Please tell me what you think?

Beautiful capture Mike, golden light enhances the natural beauty of the subject. Well done!. I wish we had these animals here in the UK, so I could have a go myself.

Great photo, Mike (as if you don't already have enough comments on this one!) The golden light goes well here. Perfect framing, superb capture. It looks like she's looking right at you, something uncommen in hummingbird photos.

I realized my name was not among the commenters here Mike. Can't let that happen, paricularly on my favorite image of yours. You know how much I like this one. This is so hard to capture so perfectly as I'm sure you are well aware. Composition and lighting rarely accentuate a subject so beautifully, let alone a tiny hummingbird, one of the more challenging subjects in all photography. Perfect technique. Pefect DOF and exposure. Outstanding photography.

Talk about God's creation! Fluttering those wings at (how many per second) - like a mini helicopter - perfectly made for getting to the hidden nectar. That is my first response. But, photographically - this HAS TO GET A TEN A SECOND TIME.
|

What a beautifully composed photo. The focus and detail are excellent. Really excellent capture. I give this a 10+

Superb photo in every respect. I would not lose the glow as it complements the hummingbird's color. Excellebt focus and composition with a classic catch light in her eye. (Where is the beach?)

Yet again, I remember seeing this featured and thought I had commented on it, and alas.. no. So what can I really say that hasn't already been said? It's a great still! The background is fine as it completely isolates what's important to the scene.

incredibly difficult shot with amazing sense of movement yet solid focus, and yellow coloring, tones top notch. If I experimented with anything it might be a little more definition to the background but likely much better this way.

One of the few best photo I see on this site. Great composition, sharp main objects against simple background. Shutter speed was set perfectly so that the bird's wings shows moving state.

I think this photo is about the fluttering wings of the hummingbird hanging in air. The background does not detract from the image so that the viewer's attention is where it should be.
