Photographer's Description

This blowhole at Paparoa (Pancake Rocks) literally seemed to spit up a rainbow about every 45 seconds. One just had to watch out for the big ones which would soak you and camera.

Absolutley breathtaking! Colors are so vibrant and the photo has a lot of nature's action in play...

I've admired your photography since joining ShutterPoint. As a meteorologist, I thought I'd explain how unique this photo is. The sea spray has produced a 'primary' rainbow at a 42 degree angle with the sun. A secondary rainbow is at 50 degrees..not very common (produced by 2 internal relections within the sea spray droplets). As usual, you've produced an excellent photo. Congratulations.

Absolutely incredible!! Dramatic sky and that splash coming straight toward you, AND the rainbows. Just fantastic! This one was worth the risk of getting a little wet :-)

Wonderful splash and rainbow, Mike. Make that a double. The surf, the light... all is gorgeous.
