Photographer's Description

St. Michael the Archangel Church (Sv Mykolas archangelas baznycia), in Kaunas, Lithuania, was built in 1893 in Neo-Byzantine style as a military church for the army stationed at Kaunas Castle. During the Soviet period it was turned into an art gallery and in 1991 reopened as a Catholic church.

What a magnificent edifice with such a heavenly sky as its backdrop! It exudes a sense of strength and safety, very much in accordance with its patron, St. Michael the Archangel. Lovely work, Maria!

Good one Adelaide! Very interesting building - sharp and very well exposed on a bright, sunny day! Also love that little building on the right with the satellite dishes :) - which certainly helps reflect the scale of the church!
