Photographer's Description

Prov 4:18 " The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day." I went for my weekly walk along the river before dawn thinking I hoped to grab a few rising mist shots. I did not find mist but bitter clear cold. However, I blessed with the colors of dawn reflecting off the ice and rushing water. I spent several hours out there trying different shutterspeeds to get the right water texture! Amazing what you can see if you just look.

Great photos you have got Mike! Thanks for the compliment on my hoverfly photo... That means alot to me!Hoverflies are pretty easy insects to photograph; they are not so busy as bees, who are just stamping around the flower to get the nectar etc. Hover flies are also much more beautiful... And of course a good macro lens helps... throwing away lots of bad photos too...Is there a way to recognize your photos on Photographersdirect.com? (illegal unique keyword?) have you tried their newsletter? (see NEWS) Greetz Anna Oldenhave

Your style is amazing Mike. You can handle running water like nobody else I know so far. The composition with the stones lined up exactly in the diagonal and the reflecting light in the horizontal works excellent together. The little sheets of ice surrounding the stones bring a great sharp contrast to the soft running water.

I like the soft curves of this image, washed over by golden waters... This is serenety and flexibility of nature itself. Amazing

Hey Mike, It looks like you have found some of my golden spots. The colors are great and you can sure tell it was cold from the ice in the river. Very nicely done.

Classic shot. The gold highlights on the flowing water, fine clarity, and just right exposure combine with an arrangemen that any landscape architect would be overjoyed to have created make for a top flight shot.

Gorgeous early morning light on the flowing water. I really like your capture of the rocks with their varied textures and the ice that has formed around them like thick skin on the water. Exceptional beauty!
